Calgary: A southeast Calgary community is stepping up after a family’s holiday inflatable was stolen. The Fenning family, who have been decorating their home with inflatables for two years, was heartbroken when their giant storm trooper went missing this Christmas.

Leah Fenning shared her sadness online, saying she cried for days. It seemed like someone had really put some effort into taking it, and they never found it.

But then, Preet Chala, a local resident, saw Leah’s post and decided to help. He made a Facebook post to raise money for the stolen inflatable. His idea took off, and soon they had raised $870.

Chala was surprised by the response. He thought they might get a couple hundred bucks, but it turned out to be much more. He and his company even added to the pot, bringing the total to $1,000, which they handed over to Leah.

On top of the cash, the family also received a new Santa inflatable, which Leah hopes will make next year’s display even bigger. She feels grateful and believes that putting good into the world really does come back around.
