A community fundraiser has gathered support for the families of two men who drowned in a Fairfax County pond after a car accident

Chantilly: It’s been a tough time for the community after two men drowned in a pond. Nischal Bhatta, just 20, and Karna Khadka, 55, were in a car that went into the water on Thursday morning.
People have really come together to help raise money for their funerals. A GoFundMe set up by the Nepali-American community has already pulled in over $12,500. That’s amazing support!
Nischal had only been in the U.S. for six months on a student visa, chasing his dreams after leaving Nepal. He was remembered as a bright and ambitious young man.
His family is heartbroken. The Non-Resident Nepali Association shared how his passing has left a huge void. It’s just so sad to see such a young life cut short.
Karna was also a beloved figure, known as a strong support for his family and friends. He had three kids who are now facing this unimaginable loss.
Friends and family are sharing their memories, like Ernesto Gonzalez, who worked with one of the men. He described him as a good worker and someone everyone loved.
The fundraiser is a way for the community to ease the financial burden on the families during this tough time. Every little bit helps, and it’s heartwarming to see everyone rallying together.
The police are still looking into how the car ended up in the pond. It’s a mystery that’s left many questions unanswered.
