Woman Assaulted During Robbery at Ledyard Church, Police Seek Suspect

Ledyard: So, there was this pretty scary incident at the Ledyard Congregational Church on Monday morning. A woman who works there called 911 around 8:52 a.m. saying she had been assaulted and robbed by a guy she didn’t know.

When the police got there, they found her with a noticeable injury on her face and called for medical help right away. They secured the church and even brought in a K-9 unit to search for the suspect, who had last been seen inside the building.

Unfortunately, after a thorough search, they couldn’t find him anywhere. The woman was taken to Backus Hospital, and thankfully, her injuries weren’t life-threatening.

Now, the police are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect. They described him as a 5-foot-9 male with dark hair and sparse facial hair, wearing a gray hoodie, dark pants, and white Nike sneakers. No one saw a vehicle leaving the area, so they’re really hoping someone might have seen something.
