Wichita: Next month, folks in Wichita will vote on a big $450 million bond for the public schools. The voting day is set for February 25.

The school district says this bond won’t change your taxes. It’s all about fixing up schools and making sure they meet current needs. They plan to rebuild some schools, renovate others, and even close a few. Plus, they’ll use the funds to take care of roofs, windows, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

To help everyone understand the bond better, the district is hosting open houses from January 30 to February 13. These will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at various locations.

On January 30, you can check out Seltzer Elementary. Then on February 10, Isley Elementary and L’Ouverture Elementary will be open. The next day, February 11, you can visit Pleasant Valley Elementary and Truesdell Middle School.

On February 12, Wilbur Middle School and Woodland Elementary will welcome visitors. Finally, on February 13, Chisholm Trail Elementary and OK Elementary will be open for questions.
