Trump aims to implement tariffs, tax cuts, and border security measures early in his presidency
Washington: So, after all the excitement of Trump’s swearing-in, he’s ready to dive into his plans. He’s got a bunch of economic priorities lined up, like tariffs and tax cuts.
Just like before, he’ll probably use executive orders to push through some of his ideas, especially the tariffs. But for tax cuts, he’ll need Congress to get on board, and that could be tricky with a slim Republican majority.
One of his big ideas is to bundle a bunch of his campaign promises into one big bill. He’s calling it “one big, beautiful bill,” which would cover border security, taxes, and energy policies. He’s even hinted at being okay with splitting it into two bills if needed.
On the border front, he’s looking to ramp up deportations and build more detention camps. He wants to hire more Border Patrol agents and get that border wall construction back on track.
When it comes to taxes, he’s aiming to make his previous tax cuts permanent and lower the corporate tax rate a bit. He’s also got some ideas for tax credits for businesses, which could help them save money.
On energy, he’s all about increasing oil production and rolling back some of Biden’s policies on electric vehicles. He wants to speed up drilling permits and even scrap the tax credit for electric cars.
Trump’s also keen on imposing new tariffs, especially on imports from China and Mexico. He’s been pretty vocal about wanting to raise tariffs significantly, which could lead to higher prices for consumers.
Another hot topic is the debt ceiling. Trump has suggested lifting it altogether, which Congress will need to address soon to avoid a default that could hurt the economy.
He’s also planning a bunch of executive orders right from day one, including mass deportations and ending certain programs from the previous administration. It’s going to be a busy start for him!
