Louisville: Back in 2021, a tragic shooting at a school bus stop left a 16-year-old boy dead. This incident really shook the community and led to Jefferson County Public Schools starting its own police department.
Demaurion Moore, now 19, is linked to several violent acts, including three shootings and a riot at a juvenile detention center. It’s alarming how many teens are caught up in gun violence these days.
Moore is facing multiple trials, with the first one set for March in Adair County. Let’s break down what’s happened so far.
In March 2021, Moore allegedly shot Rayjon Baskin, 17, outside a White Castle. This shooting was reportedly in retaliation for another murder that happened earlier. Moore was just 15 at the time, and he hasn’t gone to trial for this yet.
Fast forward to September 2021, Moore and another teen, Mekhi Cable, are accused of shooting at Baskin again, but this time, Tyree Smith was the one who got killed. It’s heartbreaking that a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old were also hurt in that incident.
Then, in November 2021, Moore and Cable allegedly shot and killed another teen, Cortez Duncan, during a Thanksgiving incident. They were both found at a house nearby after the shooting, which just adds to the chaos.
Things took a wild turn in November 2022 when a riot broke out at the Adair Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Moore was charged in that riot, which included some serious allegations. His trial for that is also coming up in March.
