Washington: This week, Republicans are diving into confirmation hearings for over a dozen of Trump’s top picks for his next term. Big names like Pete Hegseth, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Gov. Kristi Noem are on the list.

Hegseth, who’s up for Secretary of Defense, kicks things off on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with the Senate Armed Services Committee. He’ll be facing questions from both sides of the aisle.

Rubio and Noem are also in the spotlight, with Noem appearing for Secretary of Homeland Security on Wednesday at 9 a.m. and Rubio for Secretary of State at 10 a.m.

Other nominees like Doug Collins for Veterans Affairs and former North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum for Secretary of the Interior will have their hearings on Tuesday too.

Trump has also nominated Pam Bondi for attorney general and John Ratcliffe for CIA director, with their hearings scheduled for Wednesday.

Eric Turner, who’s up for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and Scott Bessent for Treasury will have their turn on Thursday.

The rush to confirm these nominees comes as Republicans want to get as many approved as possible, especially after a recent terror attack in New Orleans that left 14 dead and many injured.
