A Bolton resident is selling a rare Brexit 50p coin for £3,000 on eBay, attracting collectors’ attention.
On one side, it shows Queen Elizabeth II, and on the flip side, it has the phrase “Peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations.” Some other listings are asking for crazy prices, like £35,000, which is way more than its face value.
The seller describes it as a fantastic find for collectors. They say it’s a great piece of history from the Elizabeth II era and would be a perfect addition to any collection.
This coin is a special version of the rare 50p and was made in Great Britain. It’s in its original condition, not modified at all. The listing includes a £5 delivery fee or you can pick it up for free.
According to Change Checker, there were 10,001,000 of these coins minted, and it’s the only official UK coin to celebrate leaving the EU. Sajid Javid, who was the Chancellor of the Exchequer at the time, ordered the minting.
Originally, these coins were supposed to be made ahead of the first Brexit date of October 31, but due to delays, nearly a million had to be melted down until a new date was set.
