Arlington: When it comes to running a restaurant, Randy Ford keeps it neutral on politics. He believes in serving everyone, saying, “We need to feed both sides.”

Ford has been at the helm of J. Gilligan’s Bar and Grill for 45 years. With President-elect Donald Trump’s second term, this will be the ninth administration he’s navigated.

“I’m optimistic,” he shared, echoing a hopeful vibe. Ray Bowens, who owns Kwik Kar Vista Ridge, feels the same way. “There seems to be some optimism,” he said.

Bowens has run his shop in Lewisville for 20 years, also under five different presidents. He thinks the election affects how people spend and feel, and now that it’s over, things are looking up.

Trump’s plans to boost oil production could really help Bowens. “When energy prices are low, people can travel more, and that helps everyone,” he explained.

He also mentioned Trump’s goal to lower corporate taxes, which Ford believes would be a big win. “If they keep tax relief, that means more money for my employees,” he said.

Both owners plan to stay hopeful, as they always do with new administrations. “I think we have an opportunity for everyone to work together,” Ford added. “I’m looking forward to it.”
