Arlington is preparing for the upcoming presidential inauguration with increased safety measures and Metro station closures

On Monday, the Pentagon City Metro stop will be closed, a change that comes with the inauguration festivities. Arlington County Police are ramping up safety measures to keep everything running smoothly.
Ashley Savage, a police spokeswoman, mentioned that planning for the inauguration starts months ahead. They’ve been collaborating all year to ensure community safety.
This weekend and on Monday, expect to see more patrols. The police are experienced in handling large events, like the Marine Corps Marathon, and they’re using drones this year for added security.
These drones help officers monitor the area from above, giving them a better view of what’s happening in Arlington. It’s all about being aware and ready to respond quickly if needed.
Currently, there are no specific threats in Arlington, but the police are staying vigilant due to the inauguration’s significance. They work closely with regional partners to assess any safety concerns.
Residents are encouraged to stay alert. If you notice anything unusual, reach out to the police at 703-558-2222 or call 9-1-1 in an emergency. You can also report tips online using the Homeland Security Tip Form.
