As the trial approaches, the community comes together to honor police efforts in a tragic case

Naresh was arrested on August 22, 2024, for concealing a dead body, and later indicted for murder in December. Police believe Mamta was killed in their home, and her body was moved to the bathroom. Chief Lugo mentioned that the crime scene was one of the worst the forensic team had seen.
DNA testing confirmed the blood found at the scene belonged to Mamta. At a recent city council meeting, the police officers involved in the case were honored for their hard work. Holly Wirth expressed gratitude, saying the officers did everything they could to advance the investigation.
Chief Lugo noted that while Manassas Park is a small town, they take homicides seriously and put all their resources into the case. He firmly believes Naresh is the only one involved in Mamta’s death.
The investigation is ongoing, with police still looking for leads and checking social media records. During the meeting, officers received plaques and traditional Nepali hats as a sign of respect.
The community has come together, focusing on raising awareness about domestic violence. Friends of Mamta are determined to keep her memory alive and advocate for justice. Naresh Bhatt is expected back in court in March, with the trial starting in September.
