A heartfelt vigil was held for Jennaleah Hin, a 17-year-old from Henderson, who tragically passed away. Family and friends gathered to remember her life and share their grief.

Jennifer Swanson addressed about 50 people, saying, “You never know how much a child is hurting.” She added that their home feels broken without Jennaleah.
Behind her, a makeshift memorial grew with teddy bears, flowers, and a rosary. The vigil was announced on Facebook, inviting students and families from Foothill High School, where Jennaleah was a senior.
Jennaleah went missing after leaving home on December 30 following a family dispute about her boyfriend. Four days later, a large search was launched, but sadly, her body was found on January 5.
When Jennaleah was reported missing, police didn’t mention that she might have taken her stepfather’s handgun or left a suicide note. This information came out later in a police report after her death was ruled a suicide.
During the vigil, her parents shared memories of Jennaleah, highlighting her good nature and potential. Corey Swanson, a police officer, suspected that Jennaleah took his Glock 43 handgun when she left.
Her father, Hina Hin, who lives in California, expressed his desire for answers and suggested that the Swansons could have better secured their firearms.
The Henderson Police Department is still investigating, but they haven’t commented further.
Jennifer Swanson said they are “trying to rebuild” and thanked everyone for their support. After speaking, she knelt by the memorial, overwhelmed with emotion, while others comforted her.
