Las Vegas: The wife of a suspect in a shocking case has been indicted. Daniel Roush, 37, is facing serious charges after the body of 68-year-old Monique Gilbertson was found in a freezer last November. His wife, Gina Lopez, is also in trouble, facing charges of burglary and drug possession.

Roush is looking at murder and other charges, while Lopez is not charged with murder but could be linked to it. She claims to be estranged from Roush, who identifies as a transgender woman. The court is considering whether to pursue the death penalty for Roush.

Lopez didn’t show up in court recently because she’s already in jail for a different case. The judge postponed her arraignment until she can get a lawyer. It turns out Roush met Gilbertson at Home Depot, and things went downhill from there.

Lopez told police that Roush was giving Gilbertson drugs. She claims Roush smothered Gilbertson with a pillow after an overdose and then put her in the freezer. Gilbertson had fentanyl in her system when she died.

Initially, Roush denied giving Gilbertson drugs but later admitted to it. Lopez also confessed to helping Roush with the cover-up. Lopez’s sister testified that they discussed how to dispose of the body, which is just chilling to hear.

Another hearing is set for February 6, so this case is far from over. If you want to know more, you can reach out to Katelyn Newberg at the Review-Journal.
