Chicago braces for dangerously low windchills, with temperatures plunging below zero and snow on the horizon
Right now, it’s 9 degrees at O’Hare, but with the windchill, it feels like a bone-chilling negative 13. Midway is just as cold.
They’re saying parts of north central and northeast Illinois, plus northwest Indiana, are at risk for excessive cold. Windchills could drop to 10 below this morning.
And guess what? This frigid air isn’t going anywhere soon. It’ll stick around until Thursday when we might see some snow. Temperatures should creep up to the low 30s then.
Later on Wednesday night, there’s a 40% chance of snow showers, and a 20% chance of more snow Thursday morning.
Looking ahead to Friday, we might hit the mid-30s with sunny skies. But don’t get too comfy; there’s a chance of rain that could turn into snow later, and temps might drop back into the high 20s.
Saturday night could be really cold, dipping into the low teens, but Sunday should bring some sunshine to brighten things up.
