Connie Palacioz, known as Wichita’s Rosie the Riveter, turns 100, celebrating her legacy and the family’s gratitude for her remarkable life.
“I never thought I’d make it to 100 but here I am!” Connie exclaimed. She worked at Boeing during World War II, helping to rivet the B-29 and the now-famous “Doc.”
“I feel great, I feel very blessed because I could still get around,” she shared. This Newton native has become an aviation icon, and her family couldn’t be prouder.
“We’re truly blessed as a family,” said her daughter, Tish Palacioz. They’ve been looking forward to this special birthday for a long time.
Tish reflected, “It’s not something a lot of people can say.” She noted that while many reach 100, Connie’s story as a Rosie the Riveter makes her stand out.
“It’s sharing the story of our history,” Tish added, emphasizing how special it is to be part of Connie’s journey. They knew she worked at Boeing during the war, but learning she was a riveter was a surprise.
“Today, we think about sharing her milestone,” Tish said, also wanting to honor all veterans who served.
To celebrate, the family is throwing a big Mexican fiesta this Saturday, a cherished family tradition.
