Gov. Phil Murphy’s upcoming address promises a significant agenda, touching on key issues for New Jersey’s future
Murphy mentioned that even in his eighth year, he’s got plenty to share. He said, “You might think the cupboard may have run dry, but we’re going to prove that’s not the case.” He’s got serious topics to cover, but also some exciting ideas that could set New Jersey apart.
This isn’t Murphy’s last address; he’ll have another one before he wraps up his term next year. So, it’s a chance for him to lay out his final priorities.
Expect to hear about reproductive rights, property tax relief, education, and public safety. Last year, he introduced plans to tackle medical debt and boost access to universal pre-K. Affordability has been a big theme throughout his time in office, especially with programs like ANCHOR for tax relief.
He also touched on reforming the outdated liquor license law a couple of years back. But not everything gets the spotlight; NJ Transit often gets overlooked, and the looming fiscal cliff in 2026 is usually left out of the conversation.
