Former Governor Chris Sununu told investigators he wasn’t asked to intervene in a case involving Judge Hantz Marconi’s husband, Geno Marconi.

New Hampshire: So, there’s this whole situation with Judge Anna Barbara Hantz Marconi. Her lawyers just filed a response saying that former Governor Chris Sununu told investigators she never asked him to help her husband, Geno Marconi, who’s in some legal trouble.
In a recent court filing, they included a transcript from an interview where Sununu said there was “no ask” from Hantz Marconi during their chat. He mentioned that she was just venting about her frustrations with the whole situation, not asking him to do anything.
Hantz Marconi is facing some serious charges, including trying to improperly influence a criminal investigation involving her husband, who’s been on paid leave. She’s also been hit with several misdemeanors related to her position.
Sununu seemed pretty clear that he didn’t think anything illegal was going on. He said she was just expressing her frustration and didn’t ask him for any favors. He even repeated that there was no request for action from her side.
When asked for comments, the Department of Justice said the grand jury found enough evidence to charge her. They’re moving forward with the case, ensuring she gets the same due process as anyone else.
In December, a judge denied a motion to dismiss the charges against her. Hantz Marconi had claimed that the investigation into her husband was biased and needed to be wrapped up quickly because it was affecting her work.
Her lawyers are still pushing to have the case dismissed, arguing that the indictments don’t actually state a crime. They believe the state hasn’t provided any new evidence to support their claims.
