A Stoughton man faces serious charges after allegedly stabbing his mother and stepfather during a violent incident at their home

The suspect, Paul O’Brien, called the police himself after the attack. He claimed his mother tried to stab him first, which led to the violence. When asked how many times he stabbed her, he simply said “enough.”
When the police arrived, they found him with blood on his hands and face. His mother, Kathleen, and stepfather, Michael, were both in critical condition and needed emergency surgery.
The scene was pretty gruesome. Kathleen was found lying in a pool of blood outside the bathroom, while Michael was in a bedroom with multiple stab wounds. There was blood everywhere, including on the front door and a bloody knife near Kathleen.
Michael told the police that they were just sitting in the bedroom when Paul came in and attacked them. The motive behind this attack is still unclear, which makes it even more disturbing.
O’Brien has been charged with several serious offenses, including armed assault to murder. He pleaded not guilty in court and is being held without bail while they figure out how dangerous he is.
