Philadelphia: So, Starbucks just made a big change. They’re saying that only paying customers can use their cafés, patios, and restrooms. This is a shift from their open-door policy that’s been around for almost seven years.

The company wants to make sure their spaces are mainly for customers who buy something. Starbucks North America President, Sara Trilling, mentioned that this new “coffeehouse code of conduct” is all about making everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

They’re setting clear rules to create a better vibe in their stores. The new guidelines also include a ban on things like discrimination, harassment, and even smoking or vaping inside. If someone breaks the rules, they might be asked to leave, and the store could call the cops if needed.

This change comes after a previous incident in 2018 when two Black men were arrested at a Starbucks in Philadelphia. Back then, the company had said non-paying customers were welcome. Now, it looks like they’re tightening things up a bit.
