Denver: If you love skiing or snowboarding, you might want to think twice about hitting the slopes this weekend. It’s going to be super cold!

The Front Range is gearing up for a serious cold snap, and the high country is in for some bitter temperatures. The OpenSnow forecasting service warns of frostbite risks, especially in the northern mountains.

On Saturday, temps are expected to hit single digits right at midnight, and then drop even lower during the day. Resorts like Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, and Copper Mountain will likely see below-zero temps while others like Winter Park and Vail will be just above freezing.

At night, it could get as cold as -10 degrees! But don’t worry, resorts usually stay open unless the winds are really high. They might close some upper lifts, though, especially when it’s super cold.

Sunday isn’t looking much better, with more near-zero temps expected. As for snow, it’s going to be pretty light. Joel Gratz from OpenSnow says the snow will start in northern Colorado Friday night and move south, but most areas will only see a few inches.

So, if you’re planning to ski, maybe grab a warm drink and stay cozy at home instead!
