Wichita: The Shockers finally broke their losing streak with a solid 68-59 win over Charlotte. It was a much-needed boost for the team at Charles Koch Arena.

They really stepped up their defense, holding Charlotte to just 32.8% shooting. Corey Washington led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds. Harlond Beverly also shined, scoring his 1,000th career point with 12 points.

Xavier Bell kept his scoring streak alive, hitting double digits for the ninth straight game. Quincy Ballard was a beast on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds.

Ronnie DeGray III made his return after a long injury layoff and scored eight points in the second half. The Shockers led for most of the game, which was a nice change after struggling in previous matches.

They had a solid lead, but Charlotte made a late push, cutting the gap to five points. However, Wichita State sealed the deal with some clutch free throws and a dunk from Beverly.

Next up, they’ll face East Carolina at home on January 18. It’s a great chance to keep the momentum going!
