Roane County: A man from Roane County is in some serious trouble after a tragic accident on I-40. This happened back in June when a cyclist lost her life.

Daniel Lee Miller, 45, from Rockwood, has been indicted for vehicular homicide and a second DUI charge. The victim, Helene McGarvey, was 61 and was just passing through when the crash occurred.

Reports say she was riding her Harley Davidson when Miller, driving his Ford F150 in the wrong lane, hit her head-on. Sadly, she died right there at the scene.

The investigation involved several agencies, including the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the state medical examiner’s office. Miller’s DUI charge isn’t his first; he had a previous conviction in Florida back in 2018.

His attorney tried to get his bond reduced in court, but the judge said no. Miller is set to appear in court soon for arraignment and to set a timeline for the case.

Just a heads up, a grand jury is made up of regular folks who look at evidence to see if there’s enough to charge someone with a crime. It doesn’t mean he’s guilty or innocent yet.
