San Francisco: So, you won’t believe what happened during Justin Verlander’s first Zoom call with the Giants. A reporter totally forgot to mute himself and started joking about Verlander using his wife Kate Upton’s Zoom account.

It was a classic case of Zoom mishaps, even in 2025! The reporter was caught saying, “Look at Justin’s name,” while Buster Posey was answering a question. Matt Chisholm, the Giants’ VP of media relations, quickly jumped in to remind everyone to mute themselves, trying not to laugh.

Verlander took it all in stride, smirking and saying, “I’ll change it.” And guess what? He did! Later, he updated his Zoom name to “JUSTIN VERLANDER (not Kate).” The reporter, Taylor Wirth from NBC Sports, even poked fun at himself on social media after the incident.

Verlander just signed a one-year deal with the Giants and is gearing up for his 20th MLB season. He’s got two World Series rings and a bunch of awards under his belt, but he’s still out to prove he’s got what it takes. He’s been married to Kate Upton since 2017, and they have a daughter together. What a fun moment to kick off the season!
