Members of the public express shock after hearing abusive 999 calls made to ambulance services
Manchester: People were left stunned after hearing some truly awful 999 calls. The North West Ambulance Service shared a video that showed just how nasty some callers can be.
In the video, you could hear a caller going off on the operator, saying things like, “I want some f****** help from any of you, you w******.” It was shocking to hear such language directed at someone just trying to help.
Another caller complained about being hung up on because of his swearing, and then he went on to hurl some really racist insults. It’s just heartbreaking to think that emergency workers have to deal with this kind of abuse regularly.
The recordings were part of a campaign called Work Without Fear, aimed at raising awareness about the abuse ambulance staff face. The ambulance service posted on X, saying, “No one should ever be spoken to like this, especially not emergency workers.”
They really want people to understand that this behavior is totally unacceptable. Everyone deserves respect, especially those who are out there helping in emergencies.
