Several businesses in Kansas City and Kansas City, Kansas, faced break-ins overnight, prompting calls for action from owners.
Seven Swans Creperie in downtown KCMO was one of the places hit. They reported that thieves smashed their front window, took cash, and even stole a safe. The owners shared how they felt on social media, saying it was a tough blow, especially since they just lost a day of business due to a winter storm.
With KC Restaurant Week happening right now, this couldn’t have come at a worse time for them. They were also about to celebrate their fifth anniversary. The owners expressed their frustration, saying they’re resilient but this kind of thing needs to stop.
La Bodega, another restaurant involved in KC Restaurant Week, was also broken into. This marks the third time in just six weeks that they’ve faced this issue. They’re calling on city leaders to step up and make some changes before more businesses close down.
On the Kansas side, Garden House Cafe was also targeted but managed to bounce back quickly. They thanked their community for the support after the break-in, saying they boarded up and reopened in no time.
Sagebrush Cocktail Bar is also reaching out to customers for support after experiencing a break-in. They’re urging everyone to back local businesses now more than ever.
