Noel Fielding’s comedy series ‘Dick Turpin’ has been canceled after he reportedly stopped showing up to work, leaving the cast and crew in shock.
The news came from The Sun, which said Fielding just didn’t show up to work after the Christmas break. They had started filming Season 2 in the fall of 2024, but it seems like things went south pretty quickly. The crew was told the show was ending due to a key cast member’s illness, but that didn’t sit well with everyone involved.
A source mentioned that the team was left confused and upset because they had invested so much time and money into the project. Now, they’re all out of work and looking for new gigs without a clear explanation.
Variety also chimed in, saying that production has officially stopped. Even though they were a few months into filming, it doesn’t look like they’ll be able to pick it back up. Apple and Big Talk Studios were really hoping to make it work, but it just didn’t pan out.
DECIDER reached out to Apple and Fielding’s team for comments, but they didn’t get a response in time.
The show was announced back in July 2024, just a few months after the first season premiered in March. Fielding had previously expressed confidence in juggling both this series and “The Great British Baking Show.”
The first season of “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin” is still available to stream on Apple TV+, but it’s a bummer that we won’t see more of it.
