A New Jersey teacher was arrested after making online threats that caused local schools to close for safety precautions.

The teacher, Amir Doctry, was taken into custody around 8 a.m. after police learned about the threat on Sunday. They didn’t share all the details, but it was made on social media.
Montclair detectives teamed up with the school board, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and even the FBI to track down the source of the threat. They worked through the night to get to the bottom of it.
Doctry is on administrative leave from his job, but the school he worked at hasn’t been named. Reports say he taught at Renaissance Middle School, and the threat was aimed at a staff member from Northeast Elementary School. He was arrested without any fuss at a home in Philadelphia.
Montclair police reassured everyone that the school closures were just a safety measure and that there’s no ongoing threat. The district is about 20 miles west of Lower Manhattan, so they wanted to be extra careful.
