Celebrate National Bagel Day in Michigan with delicious deals at local bakeries and delis
Ann Arbor: Bagel lovers, rejoice! Wednesday is National Bagel Day, and Michigan’s delis and bakeries are rolling out some tasty deals. Whether you love blueberry, poppyseed, or the classic everything bagel, there’s something for everyone.
Bagels might look like doughnuts, but they’re really more like bread. They start with bread flour, get boiled for that shiny crust, and then are baked to perfection.
Some say bagels go way back to the 1600s when Polish Jews boiled their bread to dodge anti-Semitic laws. Others trace their roots to 1683, when a Polish baker shaped a bagel to honor King Jan Sobieski after a victory over Turkish invaders.
If you want to join in on the fun, here are some places in Michigan where you can snag a bagel deal:
Barry Bagels is offering a buy one, get one free bagel with cream cheese and any drink. You can find them in Ann Arbor, Clawson, and Lambertville.
Panera Bread is running a “Bagel Bash” from January 15 to 21. If you’re a MyPanera member, you can get a free bagel with the purchase of their new Asiago Bagel Stack sandwich.
Einstein Bros. Bagels has a deal where you can get a free egg bagel sandwich if you order online or through their app and sign up for rewards.
Biggby Coffee is also joining the celebration with 50% off all bragel sandwiches, but only on National Bagel Day.
Bruegger’s Bagels is giving away a free bagel with cream cheese for those who join their rewards program on this special day.
And if you’re wondering about other deals, Target has $1 off Canyon Bakery Bread Bagels until January 18, while Kroger is offering two packs of Lender’s Bagels for just $5 on January 15.
