Gaithersburg: So, there’s this credit card scam going on that’s got the Montgomery County Police pretty busy. It’s all about Poshmark, where people buy and sell secondhand stuff.

They’re looking into a suspect who goes by the handle @Valdez310. This person has been using stolen bank info to fill orders. It’s a real mess!

On September 7, 2024, a victim found out their card was used without permission to buy something from Dick’s Sporting Goods. But here’s the kicker: the package went to someone else!

When the police talked to the person who got the package, they said they bought an item from @Valdez310 on Poshmark. Then, @Valdez310 used the victim’s card info to order it from Dick’s. Sneaky, right?

These kinds of scams are pretty common in the secondhand market. The police think @Valdez310 has been selling items on Poshmark using stolen credit card details.

Right now, it’s unclear how long this scam has been going on or how much money has been taken. They’re also trying to figure out how the suspect got the victim’s banking info. Officials mentioned that the seller wasn’t using a physical card for these purchases.

If you think your banking info might be compromised, don’t hesitate to call the detectives at 240-773-5476.
