Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta expressed disbelief after his team failed to beat Manchester United in the FA Cup, despite dominating the match.
United came to the Emirates feeling confident after a solid game against Liverpool. Bruno Fernandes put them ahead with a stunning goal in the second half. But things took a turn when Diogo Dalot got sent off, and Arsenal quickly equalized.
They even had a chance to take the lead with a penalty, but Martin Odegaard’s shot was saved by United’s backup keeper, Altay Bayindir. He made some crucial stops, including another penalty save during the shootout against Kai Havertz.
After the match, a frustrated Arteta told reporters it was “incredible” that they didn’t win. He felt his team had dominated and deserved more. He said, “We go home extremely sad but I cannot be prouder of my players.”
Arteta acknowledged the disappointment but also highlighted the positives from their recent performances against top teams. He noted that United and Newcastle are among the best in the league right now.
Looking ahead, United will face Leicester City at Old Trafford in the next round of the FA Cup.
