Kevin O’Leary insists California leaders resign amid wildfire crisis and mismanagement concerns
O’Leary made his feelings clear on “Varney & Co.”, saying taxpayers want to see Newsom and Bass gone. He believes no aid should be given until they are removed from their positions. He’s not holding back, calling them incompetent and saying their decisions have led to the current mess.
Right now, there are four active fires in the LA area, including one that started early Tuesday in Ventura County. Firefighters have managed to stop its forward progress, but the danger isn’t over. The National Weather Service has reported wind gusts over 70 mph, which could worsen the situation.
While the winds aren’t as strong as last week, they’re still a concern for firefighting efforts. On Monday, House Speaker Mike Johnson suggested tying a debt limit increase to aid for California, but some GOP lawmakers are hesitant about this approach.
Newsom is also facing criticism from within his own party. The state Senate minority leader called out Newsom for mixing a special session about suing Trump with wildfire relief efforts. This has left many feeling frustrated, especially those affected by the wildfires.
O’Leary is worried about the future of Southern California, even suggesting that the upcoming Olympics could be at risk due to the state of the infrastructure. He pointed out that many homes built decades ago are now in danger, as they were made with materials that can easily catch fire.
In his view, the damage is extensive, and rebuilding will be a tough challenge given the current policies and infrastructure in place.
