Bunbury: A five-year-old boy is in serious trouble after a parking meter fell on him. This happened in Bunbury, the biggest regional city in Western Australia.

Paramedics rushed to the scene on Arthur St around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. They sent three crews to help the boy, who was quickly taken to Bunbury Hospital as a priority one case.

Later, he was flown to Perth’s Children’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. WorkSafe WA has been notified and sent an investigator to look into what happened.

The boy was reportedly struck by a disused parking meter in a courtyard at the Bunbury Museum, not in a parking lot. The museum announced on Facebook that it would be closed until Friday but didn’t mention the incident.

City of Bunbury’s chief executive, Alan Ferris, expressed sadness over the event. He thanked the police, paramedics, and community members who helped the child and offered support.

Priority one calls are serious and can be life-threatening, so this situation is being taken very seriously. Our thoughts are with the boy and his family during this tough time.
