Fatal Hit-and-Run in Lake County Leaves Driver Still at Large

Lake County: On January 13, just before 7 p.m., a car hit a man waiting by his vehicle on U.S. 27. He was by a tow truck that was helping with a disabled car.

The tow truck was partially in the lane, and the passenger was directing traffic. Unfortunately, a passing car didn’t move over and struck the man, who then hit the tow truck’s mirror.

After the collision, the car sped off, turning onto Margaux Drive and hitting a decorative rock before fleeing south on U.S. 27. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities haven’t released his name yet but promise updates once they have more information. If anyone knows anything about this incident, they should contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Crimeline.

Witnesses described the car as a white Kia Soul with an Indiana license plate. The investigation is ongoing, and the driver remains unidentified.
