Skylar Thompson, former Dolphins QB, has signed a futures contract with the Steelers, aiming for a roster spot next season

After spending last season on the Dolphins’ practice squad, he’s got a shot to compete for a spot on the roster during the offseason and training camp.
Thompson was with the Dolphins for three seasons after being picked in the seventh round of the 2022 draft. He had his ups and downs, winning the backup job over Mike White last season.
He even started a playoff game against the Bills as a rookie, which is a big deal. But things got tough when he had to step in for Tua Tagovailoa last September.
He struggled a bit and even got hurt in a game against Seattle. Then, when he got another chance later, it didn’t go well either.
In a game against the Patriots, he fumbled the ball after a high handoff, which led to a touchdown for New England. That was a tough moment for him.
Coach Mike McDaniel mentioned that the offense wasn’t running smoothly when Thompson was in charge. By December, he was waived but later returned to the Dolphins’ practice squad.
Now, he’s got a fresh start with the Steelers, and we’ll see how it goes for him!
