Erik ten Hag may return to football as Borussia Dortmund considers him for their managerial role
Dortmund fell behind 3-0 by halftime, and even though Giovanni Reyna and Jamie Grittens scored two quick goals, it wasn’t enough to turn things around. Now, they’re sitting ninth in the league, a whopping 14 points behind Bayern Munich.
It’s been a rough season for Dortmund since Nuri Sahin took over last summer. They’ve only managed to win one of their last six matches. After the game, Sahin didn’t hold back, calling the performance “shameful” and not up to the club’s standards.
As the board looks for new managerial options, Ten Hag’s name keeps popping up. Journalist Florian Plettenberg mentioned on X that he’s still a candidate for the job, even as Sahin has the board’s backing for now.
Ten Hag has been spotted at Signal Iduna Park, but there’s been no official move to bring him on board yet. He left Manchester United in October with a £15 million payout and expressed gratitude to the fans and staff in an open letter, reflecting on his time at the club and the trophies he won. It seems he’s ready for a new challenge, and Dortmund might just be the place for him.
