Columbia: So, there was this wild incident in Connecticut where a youth basketball coach, Bryan Baez-Rivera, drove his car into a rival parent after a heated argument. It all went down in the parking lot of Horace W. Porter School after a game.

The parent had just been at a Parks & Recreation game and got into a verbal spat with Baez-Rivera. After the game, they tried to approach his car, and that’s when things took a turn. Baez-Rivera allegedly ran into the parent with his vehicle, and it was all caught on surveillance video.

The poor guy ended up rolling over the hood and roof of the car before hitting the ground. Witnesses said he got a broken nose and a concussion, but thankfully, his injuries weren’t life-threatening.

Baez-Rivera claimed he didn’t hit the parent on purpose, saying they walked into his path. But police noted that he didn’t seem to try to avoid the collision. After the incident, he took off from the scene but was arrested shortly after.

He’s facing some serious charges, including second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. The coach has since been released on bond and is set to appear in court in January.

Local officials, including the town administrator, expressed their disappointment, stressing that they want kids to enjoy sports safely. It’s a pretty shocking situation all around.
