The Freeborn County Board has chosen Melanie Aeschliman as the new county administrator after a thorough selection process
After about an hour of discussion and second interviews with Aeschliman and another candidate, David Stiernagle, they reached their conclusion. Chris Shoff was the only one who didn’t agree with the choice.
Board Chairman Brad Edwin mentioned that the Human Resources department will extend the offer to Aeschliman and start negotiating her contract, which will include her salary and benefits.
Second Commissioner Dawn Kaasa expressed gratitude to all the candidates for their patience and willingness to interview for the position.
Initially, they had four candidates but narrowed it down to Aeschliman and Stiernagle after the first round of interviews.
Before her role in Blooming Prairie, Aeschliman worked as the state supervisor of assessments in North Dakota and spent over four years as the planning director and assessor in Soldotna, Alaska.
Stiernagle, who hails from Freeborn, has a long career in the private sector, recently retiring as vice president at Coastal Chemical Co. He managed a significant revenue sector for the company.
