Tri-Point High School in Cullom closed Wednesday over a potential safety threat, prioritizing student and staff well-being.

Superintendent Jay Bennett shared the news on Facebook early in the morning. He mentioned that the school resource officer and administrators discovered the note the night before. They spent the night figuring out if the threat was credible.
Bennett reassured everyone that their initial investigation suggested there was no real threat. Still, they decided to close the high school for the day to let the investigation continue. Meanwhile, the junior high and elementary schools in the area remained open.
Parents were informed that updates would be provided as more information became available. Cullom is a small town with about 500 residents, located about 20 miles east of Pontiac. Tri-Point High School has a small student body of just 114.
This incident marks the second potential threat in Livingston County schools within a month. Just last month, Prairie Central Community Unit School District 8 closed its schools due to rumors of a weapon being brought to school, which later turned out to be unfounded.
