Citibank users are experiencing fraud alerts and trouble accessing their accounts, causing frustration and confusion.

According to DownDetector.com, which keeps an eye on service issues, hundreds of users flagged problems by midday. These issues seemed to kick off around 9 a.m. Eastern time.
People took to social media, sharing their frustrations. Some mentioned long wait times when trying to reach the bank’s fraud department, while others couldn’t even log into their mobile accounts.
A spokesperson from Citi didn’t get back to us right away, but one of their reps did post on X, saying they were on it and would update customers as soon as they could. They also suggested waiting a bit before calling back.
Interestingly, earlier that same day, Citi announced financial earnings that exceeded what analysts expected, with several business areas hitting record revenues. Quite the contrast, huh?
