Capital One is experiencing a tech outage, causing issues with account access and deposits for many customers

They acknowledged the problem on social media, saying it’s a “tech outage” affecting various services. Unfortunately, they didn’t give a timeline for when things would be back to normal.
Around noon, they put out a statement explaining that a third-party vendor is causing the hiccup. This vendor is messing with account services, deposits, and payment processing for different types of accounts.
Later in the day, the vendor, Fidelity Information Services, said they were working on fixing things after a local power outage hit one of their data centers. They didn’t respond to follow-up questions, though.
Reports of issues started coming in around 6 a.m. ET, with about 2,000 complaints noted. By 9 a.m., the number of reports seemed to level off, but by 4 p.m., people were still having problems.
Interestingly, this outage comes right after Citibank had its own issues with mobile access and fraud alerts. They’re still working on fixing those problems too.
Oh, and just a heads up, earlier this month, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau sued Capital One for allegedly misleading customers about their savings accounts. Capital One has denied those claims.
