Despite criticism, Todd Bowles has led the Bucs to impressive achievements this season

Remember when Arthur Smith was the hot name in coaching? He had a great run as an offensive coordinator but flopped in Atlanta. And then there’s Josh McDaniels, who had his shot in Denver and Vegas but couldn’t stick. It’s tough out there for offensive coordinators stepping up to head coach.
Bowles has faced his share of criticism, especially after the Bucs lost to the Commanders. Fans were calling for his head, but that seems a bit hasty. Sure, the defense has had its issues, but he’s also the guy who led the Bucs to a Super Bowl win in 2020.
He’s been through a lot, especially with the team’s salary cap situation. And let’s not forget, he’s been the mastermind behind some solid defenses over the years. The Bucs were expected to struggle this season, yet here they are, winning games and titles.
General manager Jason Licht even praised Bowles for his work with the roster. It’s clear that he’s been doing a lot with what he has. Sure, Liam Coen has made waves as the new offensive coordinator, but that doesn’t mean Bowles should be tossed aside.
People love to point to past coaching changes, like when Jon Gruden took over for Tony Dungy. But Gruden had a proven track record. Bowles has his own accomplishments, and it’s not fair to judge him solely on this season’s ups and downs.
In the end, Bowles has earned his place. He’s led the team through tough times and deserves a chance to keep building on their success. Let’s give credit where it’s due!
