Indiana: Governor-elect Mike Braun made some big moves late Friday. He appointed eight people to lead various state agencies just before he takes office on January 13.

Among the new appointees is Jon Ford, who will head the Office of Energy Development. He’s a former state lawmaker and has been involved with Reliable Energy, a group supporting Indiana’s coal industry.

Other appointments include Stacy Hughes for the Education Employment Relations Board, Jake Speer as the Indiana State Librarian, and Clint Woods as the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Woods has a background with the EPA and has also worked in academia.

Additionally, Terry Seitz will lead White River State Park, Matt Brown will direct the Indiana State Personnel Department, and Joe Hoage will head the Indiana Gaming Commission.

For agencies without new leaders, like the Department of Workforce Development and the Department of Revenue, current leaders will stay on for now. This is to keep things steady during the transition. Braun’s team will evaluate their performance to see if they fit in his administration.

He also introduced a new cabinet structure, naming Molly Craft as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications in the Governor’s Office. Exciting times ahead for Indiana!
