Wichita: Next week, the top figure skaters from across the country are heading to the Intrust Bank Arena for the 2025 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Some of these athletes will even be competing in the Winter Olympics next year in Milan, Italy.

This event is a big deal for Wichita, as it will be broadcast on NBC, USA Network, and Peacock. So, all eyes will be on the city!

To get ready, Visit Wichita and the arena staff have been busy. They started putting up banners on the light poles outside the arena. By Thursday, they’ll be laying down the ice, which is built up in layers over the existing hockey ice. They’ll also be setting up signs inside the arena.

The competition kicks off on Tuesday, January 21, and runs until Sunday, January 26. This is the first time Kansas is hosting the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, and it’s expected to bring a lot of visitors, which could really boost the local economy.

It’s a rare chance for Kansans to see the nation’s best figure skaters live. Tickets are still available through Select-A-Seat.

Susie Santo, the president and CEO of Visit Wichita, mentioned that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these athletes perform as they gear up for the World Figure Skating Championships in Boston and the 2026 Olympics in Milan.
