Liverpool’s bid for Bologna’s Sam Beukema has been turned down, with the player expressing interest in a future move to the Premier League
Beukema has been making waves since joining Serie A last season, and it seems he’s caught the eye of quite a few clubs. Liverpool had been linked with him earlier, and he even mentioned how much he admires the club and dreams of playing in the Premier League someday.
Arne Slot, who knows Beukema well, tried to sign him back when he was at Feyenoord. He had a great season at Go Ahead Eagles, and Slot was keen on bringing him in. He joked that Beukema might have made a wrong turn by choosing Bologna over Feyenoord, especially since Feyenoord went on to win the Eredivisie title in 2023.
Beukema recently faced Liverpool in the Champions League, marking his third encounter with a team managed by Slot. It seems like he’s eager to make the jump to England, just like some of his former teammates.
However, Bologna isn’t looking to let go of their key players right now, so any move for Beukema might have to wait until the summer transfer window. Liverpool is still keeping an eye on him, and he’s expected to cost around €25 million.
With some of their defenders dealing with injuries lately, it makes sense that Liverpool is looking to bolster their central defense. Other top clubs are also interested in Beukema, but Liverpool seems to be leading the charge with their initial bid.
