New York: Spencer Jones made quite an impression during last year’s Yankees spring training. He crushed a pitch from a Tigers reliever, sending it 470 feet. That first swing set the tone for a solid spring, where he hit .444 with four RBIs and a .722 slugging percentage.

However, the regular season was a different story. Jones struggled early on, batting just .205 with two home runs in his first 37 games. It was a tough stretch, with 30 games without a homer. But he turned things around, finishing strong with a .280 average and 16 home runs over the last 88 games.

Reflecting on the season, Jones said he learned a lot mentally. He feels he’s in a great spot now, especially with the training he’s doing. He’s eager to show what he’s got in spring training.

Ranked as the Yankees’ No. 2 prospect, he could take the top spot if Jasson Domínguez moves up to the MLB. Jones is putting in the work this offseason, focusing on new drills and patterns to improve his swing.

Despite his talent, he’s not yet ready for the MLB roster. General manager Brian Cashman noted that players like Jones often take time to develop. He compared him to Aaron Judge, highlighting the potential once everything clicks.

Jones admires Judge and is eager to learn from him. He’s got plenty of questions about hitting and training as he prepares for the upcoming season.
