Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as a top target for Manchester United after his impressive stint at Coventry City
This Swedish striker has really turned heads, scoring a whopping 78 goals for Sporting Lisbon since he made the move there in July 2023. It’s safe to say he’s one of the hottest properties in European football right now.
But it wasn’t always smooth sailing for him. His journey to becoming a star started during his two-and-a-half years at Coventry City in the Championship. He joined the team on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion back in January 2021, and that’s where things began to change.

He worked hard, was a team player, and thrived when he had the ball at his feet. With Amorim now at Manchester United, it makes sense that Gyokeres is on their radar. Turner pointed out that Amorim played a big role in Gyokeres’ move to Sporting, and that connection could lead to a transfer to Old Trafford.
There was interest from other Premier League clubs, but Gyokeres and his agent were focused on the right move for his career. They knew they wanted to work with Amorim, and that’s why he’s been linked with United so strongly. It’s exciting to think about what could happen next!
