Joe Buck seeks to understand Philadelphia’s disdain for him during a recent talk show appearance
Philadelphia: Joe Buck knows the City of Brotherly Love isn’t his biggest fan, but he’s curious about why. At a recent event, he joked about the crowd’s feelings toward him.
During the show “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce,” Buck asked why he gets so much hate. Jason’s wife, Kylie, chimed in, saying she grew up disliking him but couldn’t explain why.
It’s funny how some things get passed down, right? Kylie mentioned her dad taught her to dislike Buck, but when pressed for reasons, she had none. Classic!
Buck took it all in stride, telling the audience he understands their frustration. He gets that fans don’t like hearing about rival teams scoring. He doesn’t take it personally, though.
Let’s be real, Buck hasn’t had much to cheer about for Philly teams over the years. The city’s sports teams have only won 18 championships, and many of those don’t even exist anymore.
Since 2000, only the Eagles and Phillies have brought home titles. So, maybe Buck just hasn’t had enough good moments to share with Philly fans.
Whether he won over the crowd by the end of the night is still up for debate. But Buck knows that talking about the city’s lack of championships isn’t the way to win hearts.
