Sheboygan: It’s that time of year again—Girl Scout Cookie season! But here’s the twist: not everyone in Wisconsin gets the same cookie names.

The Girl Scouts of Manitou, based in Sheboygan, use a different supplier than the rest of the state. So, their Thin Mints are a bit more chocolaty, and they call their Caramel deLites Samoas. They also still sell Girl Scout S’mores, which adds to the mix.

In Wisconsin, there are two main cookie suppliers: ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers. Most councils, five out of six, go with ABC Bakers. But the Girl Scouts of Manitou stick with Little Brownie Bakers, which is why their cookies have different names and flavors.

This means if you’re in the eastern part of Wisconsin, you might find up to 18 different cookie varieties between the two bakeries. It’s a cookie lover’s dream, but it can get a little confusing!

To make things even trickier, the bakeries sometimes change cookie names or even discontinue certain ones. For instance, ABC Bakers stopped making their chocolate-covered S’mores, while Little Brownie Bakers kept theirs but plans to discontinue it after 2025.

In 2022, ABC Bakers renamed its Shortbread cookie to Trefoils, a name already used by Little Brownie Bakers. Both bakeries also introduced Adventurefuls, a brownie-inspired cookie with caramel.

So, if you’re wondering about the differences, here’s a quick rundown: Samoas vs. Caramel deLites, Thin Mints vs. Thin Mints, Lemon-Ups vs. Lemonades, and so on. Each bakery has its own spin on these beloved treats.

If you’re in the area, cookie season is in full swing! The Girl Scouts of Manitou are taking orders until January 19, and cookie booths will be open from February 5 to March 16. If you want to try cookies from Little Brownie Bakers, just visit their website and enter your ZIP code to find local sales.
