Firefighters found a wedding band belonging to Victoria Desantis in the ashes of her home destroyed by the Eaton Fire in Altadena
Victoria had lived in Altadena for 18 years and had to evacuate quickly. In the rush, she left her rings behind, thinking they’d be safe. “I took off all my rings because it was so dry,” she explained. She thought it was best to leave them by the door for a quick grab.
Unfortunately, in the chaos, she forgot them. After the fire, she asked firefighters for help in finding her wedding rings. They were digging through the debris when one of them called out, “I found a ring, but it’s not gold.”
When Victoria realized it was her wedding band, she was overwhelmed. “I could not believe that this little tiny thing was found amongst ashes and debris,” she said. While they’re still searching for her mom’s wedding ring, finding her own was a significant moment for her family.
“It’s our love,” she said. “We lost everything. But we have each other.”
