Walmart recalled over 2,000 cases of chicken broth due to spoilage concerns, but Kentucky shoppers are safe

Louisville: If you’ve been shopping at Walmart and bought the Great Value chicken broth, you might be wondering about a recall. Good news for folks in Kentucky—you’re in the clear!
Walmart confirmed that over 2,000 cases of chicken broth were recalled because of a packaging issue that could spoil the product. This was shared with USA TODAY on Monday morning.
So, what’s the scoop? Kentucky isn’t one of the states affected by this recall. The recalled broth was sold in 242 stores across nine other states.
In total, 2,023 cases were recalled. The issue is with the family-sized, 48-ounce cartons of Great Value Chicken Broth. They come in aseptic paper cartons that might compromise the product’s sterility, leading to spoilage.
If you’re wondering if your broth is part of the recall, look for these details: it should have a “Best used by” date of March 25, 2026, and a Retail Unit UPC of 007874206684.
The recall was initiated by Tree House Foods Inc. from Oak Brook, British Columbia, on December 11. Walmart advises anyone who bought the broth to toss it out and request a full refund.
